Maybe it's because I'm not the biggest Blood Elf or Kael fan but am I the only one not bothered -that- much by his portrayal? In Revendreth you're not exactly supposed to be at your best especially at the start of your journey else-wise why would you even be there?

This isn't to say they're doing him completely right either. All I am saying is he isn't supposed to be his best self in Revendreth as that's for later. I'm also only speaking on behalf of what I've seen so far from the Maldraxxus Campaign too so I might've missed something.

If I had to compare the two Kael'thas' in Shadowlands to TBC is at least he is bound to grow and change back into the character we know and love over time. While Kael'thas was a villain in TBC with no sign of changing at all.

Cause its kind of trying to imply he was always like that. That the Kael after Tempest Keep is just... How he is. Shadowlands says Kael was always a power hungry maniac that didnt care about his people.

Nah, he betrayed his people and joined the Legion the moment they arrived in outland (and kiljaden spoke to them) and yes he may at one point wished to help his people. But abandoning them on Azeroth to go get Fel power to get revenge on arthas was greed.

I guess he just sent back the burning crystals with Rommath and the teachings for how to drain them for energy for shits n giggles then. Same for the nether pumping machines in netherstorm. Just for funsies!

Ultimately those methods did prove out to be bad for their people though - which they did eventually just stop relying on later on. This is especially with the case of the Naaru where they drained him so they too could wield the light.

Doesn't mean he was only ever out for power so he could kill Kel'thuzad tho (a dude hes literally never even mentioned until shadowlands) as new lore is saying And hey, the belfs are alive today because of him, it was working until we blew up tempest keep.

I actually rather like that Kael'thas has a vendetta against Kael'thas because that makes a lot of sense he'd hate that guy's guts. Human Mage who revived himself from the Sunwell under the service of the Lich King and Arthas? That sounds like a public enemy number 2 for Kael.
