Maybe it's because I'm not the biggest Blood Elf or Kael fan but am I the only one not bothered -that- much by his portrayal? In Revendreth you're not exactly supposed to be at your best especially at the start of your journey else-wise why would you even be there?
This isn't to say they're doing him completely right either. All I am saying is he isn't supposed to be his best self in Revendreth as that's for later. I'm also only speaking on behalf of what I've seen so far from the Maldraxxus Campaign too so I might've missed something.
If I had to compare the two Kael'thas' in Shadowlands to TBC is at least he is bound to grow and change back into the character we know and love over time. While Kael'thas was a villain in TBC with no sign of changing at all.

Seems a lot of people forget TBC happened, and also that the illidan novel also happened. I was worried this would happen as I saw a lot of people excited to see him in hopes we would free him from revendreth. As if he doesent deserve to be there...

I think the problem is people want to forget because they don't like TBC. Which I am in that camp too but they realistically can't retcon that part of history. This is why TBC and I do not get along.
And Revendreth is here to purge your sins and heal your soul. He made some serious mistake, he need to pay for this, but in the end he'll probably grow better and come closer to how the players see him.
I’m with you on this one. I’ve never seen Kael as a good guy, anti-hero, or figure trying to make things right. He’s always been power hungry to me and trying to get ahead of others.
