It seriously dampers the flavor of the factions for me. Its like, once you are Alliance you are a Human, once you are Horde you are a Orc. I feel characters in game cant have any other emotion about the factions other then red or blue team.
I don't really think Shandris here cares if you're a Vulpera or an Orc. You're a member of the Horde to her and that alone is enough to make her dislike or distrust you. This wouldn't be the case for someone like Anduin for an example.

Which is why Anduin is 100% and always will be my favorite character. His character development and reason hit on such a relatable tone for the audience. Same with the other leaders like Thrall, Baine and Jaina. And look at that, all people Sylvanas captured.

I really liked Varian for that reason. I like Anduin and think he's in the right, but I feel Varian was a lot less naïve about the Horde. He's still one of my favorite faction leaders, flaws and all. I miss him.
