I think that the beef is a lot bigger than just "You're stealing souls from us" I think it's more along the lines of something else. Romance especially for some I am willing to bet.

There’s a line in De Other Side after you fight the Manastorms where he talks about getting his fair share of romance back in the day, and Eyir in the Vol’jin questline seems to have an particular dislike of him. I headcanon they dated for a brief and very chaotic time.

As for Mueh’zala, I’m pretty sure he mentions raising Bwonsamdi from a priest into a loa and that’s why he’s his boss. Makes sense than mortal Bwonsamdi was an especially powerful death priest that Mueh’zala decided to take as a loa apprentice of sorts.
