I think that's due to the ice that the Nathrezim trapped Nur'zhul Lich King in, or it's at least involved.
One thing I've noticed is the Lich King is very ice-themed and thus far the Maw and Maldraxxus where he gained/drew his power from has little to no winter or ice involved.
Kind of curious how that all adds up.

Maybe, but we've never seen the Dreadlords as far as I can recall use ice that much either.

Only solution to this that I can think of is because most of what happened with the lich king was in northrend where the ice and snow was....you do have a point tho, where did the ice stuff come from

I wouldn't like it if they were exactly the same, honestly. Though the metal aspects and forges all strongly resemble the Scourge metalworks of Icecrown. Call it environmental differences.

I was also thinking the same. Also, our Forsaken; If they are factually created by powers of the Maw via the Lich King, does that mean that the Forsaken are a race without purpose? Seems like they are a second rank humanoid or blizzard has explaining to do.
