Tyrande is a shit character and I hate her so god damn much. Really ruins the mood that I as a horde player have to follow along with so many Alliance characters in this expansion.

This really isn't anything new as the same was done in Legion. If not more-so with Alliance characters with little to no Horde present in the storylines. It sucks and is a good reason why Faction-based storylines should be a thing for almost every patch.

I hated it then and I hate it now. But Legion as a whole was a bit more acceptable, maybe the Argus thing was pretty meh overall. Val'Sharah stands out as the shittiest one though. I guess Aszuna counts for the Alliance storypart but the whole Farondis thing felt neutral at least

Legion would have been entirely an Alliance expansion save 3 questlines in Stormhein were it not for the HMT and NB becoming ARs. This is moreorless the problem with their world ending stories -- only Alliance characters and Thrall are allowed to be involved.

I wouldn't say that exactly. We've plenty of previous expansions where other characters took the limelight. However, when it came to Legion it definitely was lacking Horde characters after Nighthold.

I mean in terms of modern WoW writing, so WoD-onwards. I honestly think you can divide the lore into pre-WoD and post-WoD because of how things have changed in scripting. Though I guess MoP had hints of the heroes-only focus problems (Anduin Varian Jaina), at least Alliance side.

Well, the whole thing with Thrall as the main character was only for Cataclysm I would argue. In Warlords of Draenor he was there for a bit and then disappeared. Legion there really wasn't any Horde character aside from Sylvanas at the start. BfA was entirely Saurfang's arc.

WoD is kind of a good marking point also because it was a "dead" expansion where nothing happened. Jaina was EVERYWHERE in BfA. Like how in 8.2 there were three stories going on at once and Jaina somehow managed to be centerstage in two of them Alliance side.

Jaina Proudmoore was the main character of Battle for Azeroth for the Alliance. On Horde side you saw her a bit but not as much. I don't think it was a bad thing either considering it was full of good arcs for her. Only time I thought it was somewhat strange was in 8.2.

After reading the "lessons" they learned from BfA, I feel like they learned the wrong lessons. They basically said IC politics was the mistake, and intended to double down on some of the things that actually were problems -- most notably, writing around cinematic moments.
