Finally watched the masterpiece that was Death Note with my friends. It was really good. Rough around the edges with its third act and finale but ultimately really good. 8.5/10 I liked it for what it is worth but man does it get screwy with some of its characters.pic.twitter.com/4PKN1LuOXJ

I agree. It's one of those animes i considered really good as a teen and then later it's more ok-ish. It's entertaining for sure, but I wouldn't consider Death Note a 'Masterpiece'.
Death Note isn't "perfect" per se but it's certainly high on my list of Anime. It's at least in my top 15. I, unfortunately, have too many issues with its final arc but before that it was pretty dang good.

Yeah, that's where I would have to agree. He was the core part of the series and my favorite character. So when he went and the show still had another season to go it felt like it dragged on and it wasn't the same.
