If the way it's presented in game is considered canon, we didn't know Bolvar was still alive until we were already inside ICC. We were going after the LK. Wasn't the possibility of rescuing Bolvar just a lucky coincidence?
It became their goal to aid in diffusing the unrest between the Alliance and Horde. Saurfang makes it clear that is apart of their objective.

On the Alliance side it's Muradin who makes the same observation. But it's still a 'as long as we're here' kind of thing. I doubt the Horde would have shown up it if they weren't already going after the LK.

That's not what I am saying. I am just saying it becomes apart of their mission. Meaning the Horde is willing to rescue the Alliance.
