I think WoW's pre-events have been weak for a while now. The strongest it ever was with Legion which had so many fun things and strong lore moments. BfA's I liked purely more because it felt like a grand-scale war was happening in Darkshore being led by Faction Leaders.
I think what would've been impressive is if you were fighting Scourge assaults all over the planet like the Legion one with some big named characters. Imagine if you were fighting in the Barrens where Amnennar the Coldbringer returns & Rexxar leads an assault against him.
Or if we actually experienced any of the plague chaos that was supposed to be happening.
What really irks me with this event is the lack of mount... Bfa had two, afterall
I'm guessing they don't want people butthurt over missing the event and therefore missing on the mount(s).
