I really try hard to not feed into the, "Nathanos is a writer's self-insert" bullshit but it's harder and harder to do that when he has laughable plot armor. He should have perma died at Darkshore. He should have perma died just now in the prepatch. Him being kept around is sus.
I personally think they setting it up for a reveal that Nathanos isn't having a good time in the Maw. He kept failing Sylvanas and she wasn't very pleased with him the last time they interacted. It'd be great to show that he is in the same boat as everyone else.
