I'm gonna preface every discussion I have about this game by asking the other person if they think Chronicle is canon, and if they say no and/or invoke that one BlizzCon, the conversation ends there.

The stuff you speak of can be retconned entirely at any moment should their contents not work with future patches. If anything, im annoyed what this possibility is there, because, as you said, theres enough of neat lore in Chronicles what shouldnt be erased at whim.
None of Chronicles Lore has been erased. Infact, I would argue it's getting added to like any game that is over 15 years of age would be.
