Potentially unpopular opinion? I really loved the tons of different Scenarios from Mists of Pandaria. I thought they were not only fun, but interesting storywise, and an cool alternative 'quest'-like event style. I wish we kept that system.

Scenarios are actually perfect to both push the story forward but also tell the story of concurrent stuff going on that isn't pertinent to the expansion story. Doing Pandaria stuff but then also seeing Moira and Varian deal with threats at home was amazing.
I love seeing stories like that with the Racial Leaders or just champions. I'd love to see more of that going forward in Warcraft. I want to see Rokhan and Rexxar team up again. Mekkatorque and Muradin. Tess and Lorna. Etc, etc.
