I can root for both.

Honestly in this context I'm not per se rooting for him to lose, if he wants to help fight the jailer and hurt him, fine. But he absolutely deserves retribution for what he did during Legion eventually.

The whole situation with the Red Dragonflight was an example of him losing himself to the Helm of Domination (aka the Jailer's Will). Plus, he leaves it up to the player. If anything it's on the Deathlord's hands not Bolvar's.

Wait. What? I thought the Helm was completely free of anything. Nothing affected Arthas in his path to damnation- That was all him. From what I’ve seen and be told; the Red Flight was ALL Bolvar. No hidden influences.

Nope. If you remember what Arthas said all the way back when he was dying, "Father! Is it finally over?" That was Arthas finally being freed from the Helm. Shadowlands is revealing exactly what that was all about.

That’s not how I took that scene. I took as,” Am I done being a King?!” Even in the book it showed Arthas complete in control. Ner’zhul whispered, yeah, but Arthas made his choices from start to finish. I’ve never believed Bolvar was “swayed.”

It's lore that is being changed/altered in Shadowlands. And to be honest they have been running with the whole, "Bolvar losing himself to the Helm" since Legion at least. Bolvar was nowhere close to how he was acting regularly it did seem like he was bouncing back and forth.

I don’t like any of that, if it’s true. I still don’t see him losing himself. I see all of his choices as his own. Especially with Ner’zhul being silent after Arthas took full control of the helm. I’ll keep believing all his choices are his own till our right stated.

Well, it's going to be stated soon. So hold onto your hat.

So Blizzard are retconning the fact the Red Lifeflame keeping him alive blocked out the Helmet's negative sides then? Really cool. Great. What good writing.

I actually believe they are keeping that. But they're also adding the fact that there was still a struggle.
