I really do subscribe to the idea that it wasn't just one thing that broke the Machine of Death but several. After all, Frostmourne & the Helm were never supposed to have left the Shadowlands. So a thing like necromancy likely isn't supposed to be as prevalent as it is now.
Interesting theory. Considering not only those two but Death Knights and Necromancer everywhere could have made it all go nutty.
Also perma death demons and elementals probably did something too? There was a system in place for those two specifically and it's all went fubar
