Honestly so shocked he hasn’t been in shadowlands yet. I genuinely thought the only reason they killed him was so he could be a main character in shadowlands.
My best guess is they're saving Saurfang for later on in Shadowlands. They don't want his death to be deprived of its meaning if we just get to see him again. What's worse is he's currently in the Maw right now.

The author confirmed in an interview that the vision with his family was just a trick by Bwonsamdi when he was trying to spare Zekhan from having to know about the Maw. I thought it meant maybe it was a sign Bwonsamdi saved Saurfang like he did Rastakhan but I guess not. =(
