I wonder how community reception to a 'back to basics' WoW expansion would go, where the storylines are less linear. Would say, a raid in which you have to deal with a gnoll-kobold alliance feel underwhelming after handling the Jailer?

I always feel exponential power creep does more harm than good and it doesnt take long for it to basically mean nothing. Garrosh wasnt nearly as powerful as Deathwing, but imo was a much more compelling villain by the end of it. Its all in the writing really.

Well, Garrosh was using the Heart of an Old God (the most powerful one). I wouldn't say he was on the same level of power as say DW but neither was N'zoth in comparison to say Argus. All I'm saying is we don't need someone stronger than the Jailer but we do still need a threat.

No way, the power creep in WoW has already been way too drastic and it's forcing Blizz to create new super-powerful characters and the whole dynamic is screwed with final bosses no longer feeling threatening since we are the unstoppable champions of Azeroth.
