I mean. Didn't he? I thought that was the whole "thing" of mak'gora. The point of it narratively was sometimes the right thing isn't strictly the honorable thing, I thought. Or to put it another way, which is the greater dishonor? To break a rule, or to fail to right your wrong?

I bring up a lot of points in my video I made a year ago but essentially the only reason people think he cheated was the use of elements. But that's only if Garrosh specified no elements.

I thought that was kind of a given. Like if you called a duel in 1870 you both understood you used pistols, you didn't have to explicitly state the other guy can't walk out with a laser beam or something. The "You didn't say I COULDN'T" argument seems very... flimsy, to me, 1/2

compared with the narrative of emphasizing that doing what's right and/or correcting your mistakes is paramount, even if it breaks a rule. I do think it's a little silly that Thrall felt so bad about it though. Considering it was the right thing, rules or no rules.
