Archimonde as the final boss of WoD. Argus as the final boss of Legion. N'zoth as the final boss of BfA. At least with N'zoth he -kinda- had built up with 8.1.5 but good gravy did it not land good when it came to his patch in 8.3. He needed way more time.

I don't think they're planning on the Jailer being the final boss, but I have no idea what they're planning because they can't know at this point if the Jailer is even a villain that will resonate with people. He doesn't even have a backstory yet.

I think they confirmed it in some interview but they could be lying. Wasn't Grom supposed to be the final boss in wod or something?

Grom was originally supposed to be the final boss of WoD but they thought another Orc Warrior as the final boss after MoP was a bad call.

I understand that decision but I think it hurt the story somewhat. Grommash deciding to side with the people that murdered his armies and his alternative future son was always weird to me

I think the main issue with that was the scrapping of certain story beats with Grom. Had we gotten an arc with Grommash learned the complete truth or gained our trust we'd be more open to him. But his arc was never shown to us so it felt weird.

Then there's Archimonde who's appearance was "foreshadowed" VIA a toy from a Rare Mob in WoD. I would've prefered if the final boss of WoD was Gul'dan and the other dead Warlords. Keep Grom a good guy but build him up as that rather than out of the blue.

A badass shadow council fight where in the last phase Gul'dan sacrifices the other council members to either get empowered or summon in Archimonde wouldn've been dope.

I would've hold off on the use of Archimonde in general. I would've prefered Archimonde and Kil'jaeden saved entirely for Legion.

My only worry there is that would have meant even less characterization for Kil'jaeden. But clearly *who* the last raid boss is is less important than how the plot propels us into the following expansion

Kil'jaeden only received development from his two cinematics and personally, while they were good they weren't enough. The entire 7.2 patch was bad and should've given K'J more time to shine.

At that point we're just saying "I wish the story was written better"
