Well, if TaranZhu wins, Blizzard won't be able to finish the plot, which is the last thing Blizard wants to see. So because of this, it is forced to let TaranZhu lose the duel, so that players can continue to play the following plot
Taran Zhu loses three times during the entirety of Mists of Pandaria. Meanwhile, they constantly showed the strengths of Garrosh prior to MoP in Wrath, Cata and onward. 1st: Taran lost in a Dungeon Fight. 2nd: Taran loses to a Mogu Liutenent and nearly dies 3rd: Loses to Garrosh

So it's not as if they painted Taran Zhu as a very high-scaled powerful person in MoP. Yeah he's the leader of the Shado-pan and he is powerful in his own right but he lost plenty of times even before his duel with Garrosh.

Taran Zhu was already spent of energy that he was already destined to lose that duel, but either way i just never liked the cutscene or how it played out. Also stems that i just never got into the lore either lol
