a weakened Zhu they would, since the throne of thunder gig, other than that a fully refreshed Zhu i don't see Varian or Garrosh beating him or at least, they would be hard pressed to defeat him.
I think things would be different if Taran Zhu was on his own ground but because he was fighting Garrosh on a bridge and basically an unfamiliar area due to said bridge Garrosh had the upper hand. Location is key to a fight just as much as their skills.

Well, if TaranZhu wins, Blizzard won't be able to finish the plot, which is the last thing Blizard wants to see. So because of this, it is forced to let TaranZhu lose the duel, so that players can continue to play the following plot
