It wasn't even just Maiev, it was several of her Wardens too. Sira Moonwarden ironically was among them who aided in all that. But yeah, they killed a lot of Highborne. And worgen too. It still bugs me that's all sort of just ignored. What they tried to do was awful.
I think that the WoW writers just don't really want to focus on that story at all anymore. They probably had plans to make Maiev an antagonist in Cataclysm or something and decided against it later. Probably for the best honestly.

I mean, yeah. I just wish it was handled with more tact. I wish she actually was confronted for those crimes and it not just all swept away. I would've liked to see a "Catra" moment or something perhaps. Just something to tie in her mistakes and have her learn.

The point is that the novel does not even explore why he did those crimes. While Catra has a clear reason why she does what she does and you can understand it. Maiev is like a .. good time to go crazy.
