The thing is that it's more viable than ever before after Battle for Azeroth. I know people hate the expansion's guts (and some of it is warranted) but it really did get rid of most of the baggage left behind from MoP to Legion. More Thrall, Jaina, Baine, Anduin, etc please.

I've got a soft spot for Cross-faction couples. I also do like the conflict between both sides. And I also like it when we work together. I like all of it and therefore I am weird and a wild card.

I don't think there really CAN be peace. Genocide was committed. The only way the story can move on is with a timeskip to allow a new generation to rise up, like between WC2 and WC3... and even then there was conflict from the strife of older generations.

Well, there can never be peace for a multitude of reasons but that doesn't mean characters can't have positive relationships with each other from across the other faction. Plus I'd rather us not move on from the OG characters anyways. They're forgotten about as is already.

I'm honestly sick of the story focusing on only a handful of characters because it comes at the cost of making a zone's story compelling to your character. Silverpine isn't great because of Sylvanas, it's great because you were invested in the minor characters of the zone.

The Alliance story languished for years because it was pretty much "Varian's story". Heck, to this day, a handful of white humans are the primary focus of the Alliance narrative outside of cameos. It's a big part of the reason why Alliance ARs were hard to write.

I think that Legion and BfA are enough evidence to support that new and old characters can co-exist. But then again I play World of Warcraft not for my own character, aside for RP purposes, but for the existing characters of Warcraft 3.

Thing is though... the recurring older minor characters aren't really the same characters. They're just old names chosen to fit a new role, and their old personalities don't come intact. This ranges from the new personalities being close to completely off.

Some of them stick to how they are, some of them are different and some of them develop as characters. It tends to vary from expansion to expansion. Especially with new/old writers. Sometimes it's even for the best depending on how it's handled.
