He didn't have to chase the alliance across the bay to claim a home for the orcs. I am one of the biggest orc fans out there, but there is no world in which the first and second wars don't sit squarely on the horde's shoulders.

Just because there is some mental justification doesn't make them not the villain. Every villain believes they are justified.

I personally don't see Orgrim Doomhammer as a villain of the Horde. For the Alliance? Most definitely. But for the Horde? Nah. That's where things get tricky.

He was decidedly a villain for the story of the setting at the time, regardless. The horde as a whole villains for the setting at the time. It's like saying Arthas wasn't a villain from the Scourge's perspective. Just because you could play them doesn't mean they were good guys.

Arthas was a villain for both sides though in the end. You never played as the Scourge (except say for a Deathknight and even then he betrays you too). There's a reason why the Horde as a whole doesn't villainize Orgrim and fews him fondly. Unlike Blackhand or Garrosh, etc.

Yeah, the horde views Doomhammer favorably -because- he redeemed himself and made a change. It doesn't mean he was any less of a villain in wc 1 and 2. He has killed just as many as blackhand with just as little cause.

Saying someone isn't a villain because they redeemed themselves is a circular train of logic. If they get redeemed, clearly they were never villains, if the didn't then they were.

I've been scratching my head the entire time because Orgrim never really "changed" his tune. The only time I remember this is when he took a stand and took out Blackhand and became Warchief. He never went, "We've got to stop fighitng the humans." No he died doing exactly that.

So Orgrim as a whole never really changed in terms with the Humans or the Alliance. He changed when in terms for the Orcs and the Horde. In the end you could argue he was still a villain for the Alliance but never the Horde.
