I never really saw the Orcs as a whole as villains. Some of their races characters maybe. But their entire race? No. Redemption for Villains is extremely rare in Warcraft. Hell, the closest we got to that was Illidan and he didn't exactly make amends for his actions either.

I mean, they were absolutely the villains of Warcraft 1 and 2. There isn't even a question there, as a race they were here to kill everyone. But they collectively decided to change and step away from that path. Not that everyone believes that.

The warcraft story is full of redemption, the reason people don't see it as villains being redeemed is because typically they live on to step out of the villain role and become something else. but there are plenty of people in the setting who work made a change for the better.

As I was saying redemption is less for villains and more so for other characters who aren't quite classified as "villains". While villains themselves never really seem to get that option at all. Which is what I was trying to say.

Most of them don't want to try. The ones that do try stop being villains. Doomhammer, for instance.

You saw Doomhammer as a villain? Why?

He literally let in army to butcher and kill everyone in his way to world conquest. He only got rid of the Shadow council because he didn't want anyone pulling his strings from behind, but he was out for murder and nothing else through the entire second war.

And that's the thing. I think most people don't look at the people who actually get the redemption as villains anymore And that sort of clouds the perspective. But these people have committed atrocities oh, they just decided they wanted to change.
