imo the scourge is a lot cooler now being stolen hell tech running amok on some dirtball rather than just "necromancers but a lot of them" Events like the scourge aint normal, even in a fantasy nonsense land. The Afterlife leaked.

One of the reasons why I am fond of this newly added lore is the day old question of, "Why didn't the Burning Legion make a new Lich King? Why aren't they using the Scourge on other worlds?" Answers those questions and makes the Scourge even more terrifying.

Guess because the scourge got out of their control, and the Legion just throws away toys that they can't use anymore. Like the orcs.

They actually tend to re-use their toys actually. This is shown especially for the Orcs. Orcs and the Scourge (as far as we know) are the only ones to successfully oppose them.
