This is a very similar case for characters like Garrosh and Sylvanas. Garrosh did everything on his own with no corruption - unless they retcon Y'sharaj twisting his mind which I doubt. Then there's Sylvanas who has done everything on her own as far as we know. --

After the Third War Sylvanas basically broke free, broke any of the Scourge free and turned them on Arthas. Her actions in Classic to Wrath while grey were not too irredeemable and at least it was out of a just goal. But that goes down hill after Arthas is dealt with. --

She's no longer under anyone's control and her new reason for existing and "thriving" is to not go to Hell. Her goal of revenge turns into a goal of survival. And a very selfish one at that drives her to do very bad things. Far worse than what Arthas has ever done. --

Going back to Arthas, yes he did terrible deeds but most of them were under the influence of Frostmourne and the Helm which (spoilers) are now revealed to be linked to the Jailer. Sylvanas doesn't really have that excuse anymore which is why "redemption" doesn't feel right.

I think it all depends on how they handle or touch upon these characters or stories. I personally don't want either of them redeemed but if they do some form of good before dying or going back to their designated afterlife than I suppose that's fine. --

Just don't turn around and force every character to go, "You know what? I think Arthas and Sylvanas were good people after all." Cause that's just not right either. I'm far more worried about them doing that to Sylvanas than Arthas.

Probably unpopular opinion but I think Garrosh deserves a redemption arc more
-
I think Garrosh is more complicated Box. I love the guy I really do and I wish he went the route of redemption in life. The problem being, unlike Deathwing or Arthas all of his actions were his own. But maybe even with that in mind he can do some form of good hopefully.

Arthas semi deserves something. Idk about full redemption. I mean there was still a part of Arthas in the lich king somewhere. He kept Jaina's locket that whole time.

Arthas should have a redemption, his will was not free, he was cursed by frostmourne. But Garrosh in the other hand, did all the war crimes by his free will. Yes, he had a good purpose-make a true Horde and destroy his enemies, but what he did to achieve his goal was evil.

So in my opinion he don't deserve a redemption.
