I hate having this feeling that I literally cannot please or befriend every single person I encounter. It's such a stupid and unrealistic thing to get upset about but I'm just really not a fan of drama or conflict. I just have a hard time dealing with being hated by some people.
Growing up I thought I was in good graces with most people only to learn that people who I had called my friends became my bullies and I was picked on for what I liked, looked like, and acted. I do not cope well with friends and most people sadly because of this.
Yes I know this well when I was little, I became distant and anxious of anyone that appeared friendly to me and pretty clingy and obsessive when they actually were friendly(which is something I’ve been attempting to change) you’re not alone skoll, hope good things happen to ya

REAL TALK; same though. I'm 32 and that sort of stuff continues to this DAY (even if not as bad), it's so incredibly fucky and I'm learning that more often than not, the people who don't believe that happens are the ones who end up harassing me later and being awful.
I've fortunately made many friends since then outside of IRL and more-so virtually. Maybe that's not the conventional version of friendships but I've been friends longer with people in WoW than I have in real life.
I'm almost 33 and let me say that even adults can be terrible. Some people never grow up. I worked at a job where they maliciously bullied me. And we were all in our late 20s. People laugh, but most of my friends are online friends. I havw very few irl ones.
Real truth, real friends are hard to find, fake friends are those who only associate because it benefits them, and the moment it becomes no longer a benefit, they change sides.
I had the same happen to me. It destroys how you view the world. I know for me, I've never been able to make friends "out in the wild" since. I developed selective mutism because of it. That part's gone now, but the feeling that friendship is fleeting has never gone away.

I'll be 40 next year (*cries in old person*) but like everyone else said, even as adults we get a taste of bad friends, bullies and more. I got bullied by a co-worker a few years ago, and it's hard to let it slip and trust in new people. But...we gotta try, at least.
