I'd argue there are people on Alliance side who took it way too into their hearts too. (Not saying people didn't do what you said.) Constantly comparing it to IRL things, holding people accountable for what their characters said IC about it, etc etc.
I do think that both sides take it way too seriously. And there have been cases when Alliance players take it too far too. But it's still pretty fucked up that people on the Horde don't know when to stop. Comes a time when a joke stopped being funny.
