In a twisted way I'm kind of glad WoD was after MoP because it did help certain people realize that MoP was a good expansion. I did wish WoD was better. Who doesn't? But MoP was treated extremely unfairly when it was current content.

It really was! I'm glad its legacy had been kinder to it. It was the xpac I personally was least excited about and the one I ended up liking most. I think that speaks volumes to it, but also maybe says something about the value of being pleasantly surprised

I've wondered the same thing! I think they must have? I mean, surely they had some kind of plan for post-Cataclysm. But on the other hand, little about MoP is set up in Cata, unlike the foreshadowing for Legion in WoD or the hints at BFA and SLs in Stormheim

I think it's possible if they were working on them both at the same time. Obviously, Cataclysm was more worked on than MoP for instance (as it was next). They did use Nazgrim a decent amount in all three of those expansions too.

I believe I remember hearing somewhere that Blizzard said they usually plan 2 expansions ahead of the current one so maybe thats why, they have been planning Shadowlands since Legion

I think there will always be errors in the constancy regardless if they plan ahead sadly. Even so, I do think they at least have some idea always of what the next two will be.
