It's gonna happen someday. I don't know about in Shadowlands but it'll happen when I feel like it's best. I still enjoy playing the character even after about 11 years of roleplaying as him. So I suppose that's a really good sign.

Technically you could have it both ways! Die a glorious hero's death fighting the Scourge, only to be immediately raised as a Death Knight because heroes aren't allowed to rest.

Ban'orak will never become a Death Knight it's one of the things he asked his friends and offsprings to prevent as much as possible. If that plotline ever comes up he will not be happy and it'll likely be a short-lived Death Knight if he has control.
