In a recent tweet I talked about liking Villains & how there's nothing wrong with liking them even when they've done terrible things. When it comes to Anduin he's doing more good than harm but isn't flawless either. You can see his struggles as a new King in the story. (2/3)
Sylvanas for example is not a character I really jive with anymore but plenty of others still do and also voice their hatred for someone like Anduin who's got a lot more going for him. Obviously there's nothing wrong with liking or disliking certain characters but still... (3/3)
I get it too. But, similar to you, I don't hold any hate for the character. I definitely haven't been his biggest fan, but I've tolerated him as a child until now, when he seems to be developing into a decent character.
I hope he does not get Jaina'd and suddenly becomes a war monger. They tried to fix Jaina but she had never felt right sense then
He's more likely to go Arthas than Jaina. But, will Velen and others by his side... I doubt it. He literally has advisors and confidants that also want peace. Except for Tyrande and Genn.
I personally love Anduin, but I can see how he’s peeved people. He basically couldn’t help Tyrande during the dark shore campaign , he seems to be angering a few of the more seasoned Alliance leaders with his more peaceful approach.
He's angered the warmongers. Those who wish for peace or see the cosmic conflicts ahead are more than happy for peace.
People dislike Anduin? Always came across as one of the most human characters around, for me.
When I turned 30, I started loving "good guy" characters like Anduin or Steve Rogers kinda out of spite. Villains and antiheros felt so boring, they're a dime a dozen and they're easy to write. Just give them style, relatable flaws and a tragic backstory and you're done.
Good guys however are hard to write and apparently, hard to relate to. I hate that we view good characters as uninteresting, because IRL humans are assholes and being good demands an effort sometimes. I am SO admirative of Anduin's faith in people because of that.
