I think the character from warcraft license who suffered the most from bad writting / done dirty is Ner'Zhul. Remember he was the master in Frozen Throne ending. And still in Vanilla Manual, it was said: Everything went according to Ner'zhul plan. But Wotk came and retcon all
It really didn't retcon it. It more had Arthas take over and kill Ner'zhul. Essentially he got duped himself by his former servant Arthas.

Read the W3 manual, watch again the ending cinematic and check the vanilla manual. It was his plan. And by the way, Arthas was a slave under Ner'Zhul command just with the sword (Frostmourne). So when he is with the Lich King Spirit itself, how can he resist ?

It's all explained in the Arthas Novel. When their souls become one it left Ner'zhul exposed. Ner'zhul himself was caught very off-guard when he thought that Arthas was 100% loyal to him when in actuality he broke free. Ner'zhul isn't anywhere close to these guys as "done dirty"
