They are toxic but I like that they are a wild west full of arguments, politics and epic memes. Trade chat is the anarchy of WoW and it's beautiful.
Who in the hell still has General and Trade Chat turned on in World of Warcraft? Those places are more toxic than a cheap motel bathroom. I turned mine off late Mists of Pandaria.

I automate leaving Trade with my own addon, I haven't seen it and never had to see it since. I used to make an "IC" and "OOC" chat tab because of feeling the need to shove the other channels in some other tab. I do confess I did turn on General Chat for Mechagon. It's something I forgot since I turned it off after I got everything I needed from most of the rares. But beyond that I don't really use it anymore.

I have turned mine off this xpac since there was a band of people that left my guild and now make it a point to mock our guild and several others. I never understood why people do that.
