There is a clear difference between BfA Sylvanas and Legion Sylvanas but there is also a clear difference between all of her iterations honestly. Legion was doing it's best to market Sylvanas as a hero-character when in reality she was never really that. Sylvanas up until BfA was always in the middle of being bad & good a very dark Anti-Hero. Classic even made it pretty clear the Horde was a means an end for her.

I mean maybe in the very intro sure, but I feel like people just ignore that Stormheim is literally her, the new Warchief, just abandoning her forces and going off to do her own personal mission that you never hear about beyond, "Its for the forsaken" and then she goes away again

The start of Legion was our only real glimpse of a Sylvanas who cared about the Horde and its Warchief. And I know people are gonna hate me for this but I think it makes more sense that she faked those feelings to look good for her peers. She's super manipulative!

Like watching Sylvanas in Stormheim she very much channels what a villain would do. Her voice tone, her posture, her very own sentences. I'm surprised that I used to root for her honestly - but then again I thought she was doing it for the Forsaken and not herself.

They flat out describe Sylvanas, in her new role as Warchief, as her deciding if her people are more precious than her soul. They phrased it as a question, not a statement. Guess what? They're not. And people who paid attention knew that already.
