Sylvanas fell from grace (punishing pun) after Wrath of the Lich King. Her core reason for what she did what she did was gone and had very little reason to stick around. The moment she comes back from this crusade against Arthas she's bent on staying "alive" no matter what.
Wanting to be immortal and kill so many people (usually innocent ones) isn't something you can morally nod to. Already her and the Forsaken themes were clashing with the Horde she resided in and it just progressively got worse from there.
