I wonder if people would be throwing their over Calia if she was a character since Cataclysm. Seems one of the issues is she's barely in the game and they don't feel like they need to read the books.

While huge lore events in books is a big issue for games like Warcraft, Halo, etc. It's nothing new and has been something Blizzard has been doing for a while now. Baine was established as leader of the Tauren in Shattering. As was Garrosh. As was the Council of Three Hammers.

I honestly think people would still take issue with Calia even if she was in say Shattering or Cataclysm or any of the previous expansions. I think it really just comes down to she's not Sylvanas. Just like Garrosh wasn't Thrall or Anduin isn't Varian.

People despise change. I didn't like Cairne dying, I didn't like Thrall leaving Garrosh in charge. But did it get the story going? Did it get me invested? Yes. And I honestly see Calia as a change the Forsaken -EXTREMELY- need as Zelling and her were very nice additions.

The weirdest part is people saying she can't relate to the former people of LORDAERON but Sylvanas, a goddamn high elf somehow does.

Sylvanas didn't understand why her people liked the Horde, family, emotions, or hope. Sylvanas died and was cursed with undeath and then pushed her ideals onto them and they ran with it. Sylvanas didn't want to understand her own people. Meanwhile, Calia does.

I've said this before but holy shit its so crazy that people just ignore that she literally died because she was trying to help reunite Stormwind Humans with their Lordaeroni family members. She's undead because she wanted to help her former people rofl.

And it's not one of those situations where her death or this incident makes her go, "I wanna lead my people." No instead they push it that the Forsaken want her to be their Queen and their leader. It makes things far less forced in my opinion by doing that.

Yup, especially when Arthas is so beloved by so many people and there's so much material there for Calia to reflect on, now being an Undead herself, and being around the people her brother slaughtered. its so gooooooood from a storytelling potential standpoint.
