Mists of Pandaria was a good expansion for so many reasons. But staying on this topic it was really cool how they made Lor'themar a very obscure and basically background leader into an all-time fan-favorite. We have Mists of Pandaria to thank for his status and character.
Like prior to Mists of Pandaria the only Blood Elf I liked was pre-TBC Kael'thas and they ruined him for me. Liadrin was forgotten and everyone else just stood around. But then 5.1 rolled around and man did it deliver in story for the Blood Elves.

The entire plot with 5.1 was great. It had Darnassus and Silvermoon City both play a huge role. - The sneaking into Darnassus - The Purge of Dalaran - The "Assassination" of Vol'jin - Baine saying hi - Garrosh shattering Anduin - Lor'themar flips a bench So good.

Mists of Pandaria basically said, "Let's involve the whole world of Azeroth in this war. Let's let faction leaders do stuff. Let's let them come to Pandaria but also see what their capitals are up to." MoP deserves all the bloody praise for its storytelling.
