I'm not sayin Orcs in Warcraft are bad or anything, they are people just like everyone else- it's just that LotR set out for them to be something completely different, I doubt Tolkein was looking for anyone to ever like them. I feel the comparison isn't exactly... justified?
There are in fact people out there who like LotR Orcs. I don't know who by name but I have met people who really really like them and even prefer them from Warcraft Orcs. Warhammer is usually the more common one I see outside of Warcraft too.

Yes, I know some of those too, but that wasn't the intent. I would go so far as to say Warcraft style orcs are way more common than LotR ones- other than LotR, how many franchises have Orcs as the unequivocal bad guys? I don't just mean opposing forces, actual evil dudes

Warcraft was one of the first franchises to make Orcs the good guys. If there is one that did it before them it must've been pretty obscure.
