Apples and oranges. That character was never invincible. He was human. Older. A shotgun to the leg isn't going to be something anyone bounces back from immediately. Sad and emotional? Yes. But entirely fitting the tone of the world built in Part 1.

Going to use Varian as an example here again. WoW while nowhere close to the realism as the Last of Us or other games had Varian Wrynn still meet his end at the very end. But they did it in a way of showing he was still a badass before he died. Not with this game.

Again, it wouldn't fit. Him surviving means there's no story. The whole story hinges on his demise. There is no one else whose death would cause Ellie to go that ballistic on. People are too fixated on the death, they're failing to appreciate everything around it. The aftermath.

The grieving shown in game. There's some really phenomenal storytelling. But people are too hungup over the death itself. It reminds me of other genre fans who don't get what they want, so they trash the whole thing instead of giving the rest a chance.

Far as I was told the Antagonist who kills him doesn't even die and is spared. That's incredibly worrisome if true.

The whole theme is the cycle of violence. Having the hero go out heroically works in heroic fantasy. When trying to bring the main protagonist (because nobody is a HERO in this series) to her absolute lowest point, this is more fitting. As for the end... it's not cut and dry.

I'm again going only by what I've heard. It's not been good, it's not been positive. If you like the game? Power to you but not everyone is going to and you really just have to live with that at times.

I never played the first game it didn't interest me then & doesn't interest me now. The point I was trying to make was people are devastated by this game in the vast majority and I'm truly sorry that they feel cheated. It'd be unfair to not acknowledge the overwhelming backlash.

It's really not the vast majority though that hate the game. It's always the haters that are the loudest. Some of them I guarantee you are bandwagon haters. I have yet to read a fully neg review (outside of one person who said it upset them deeply because of their IRL traumas)

that I can really understand. Like, it's fine if its not what they wanted, but there's a lot of people saying shit like "it's objectively trash and if you like it you have shit taste." That's what I see a lot of. And that's BS.

I'm repeating myself at this point but there were people who weren't happy about the game. That sucks and they have every right to dislike the game. It's not for me. It's not for them. And that sucks.
