I think it’s because to a lot of people he’s a brand new character, like he shows up in the plaguelands in vanilla as a random quest NPC, and then since Legion he’s a key player in the Warcraft story. And he’s one of few undead characters that get much time in the spotlight.
I mean there's plenty of other Forsaken characters who aren't wrapped around Sylvanas' fingertip. Nathanos has been Sylvanas' lovebird since day 1 so his faith as her loyal companion makes sense to me. Lilian Voss is a good example of a well done forsaken character.

I agree, but outside of lilian, we haven’t had many undead characters that get much love, Tandred and Calia could be promising but I think it’s too early to judge them. I think WoW needs more named characters to become more prominent in the story or something.

Zelling is another good character but he was unfortunately killed off way too soon. You've also got Velonara, Alonsus Faol, Belmont, and Helcular to name a few.
