Hey, here are my humble thoughts, The problem is first with the Mak'gora itself : globally, it sounds cool, but it is an old-fashion duel that perfectly matches with the old Draenor, between warriors and/or warlords. But not adapted to the current Horde at all.

An interesting thing about that is Thrall and Cairne developed new terms and new ways of the Mak'gora for the current Horde. But ever since Garrosh initiated the old one we've never seen the new one put into action that much.

I am incredibly politically opinionated. Yet people get most angry at me on Twitter for WoW opinions. I'm glad people are so passionate about the game. But fuck, sometimes we need to realize we're all in this for fun. I agree with your take, but even if I didn't I'd respect it.

I've generally noticed most of the people who're in the mindset that Thrall cheated aren't exactly the nicest people. Not saying every one of them are either but it's just a trend I'm noticing especially from twitter and YouTube.

I think there is an underlying feeling of guilt and shame that prevented Thrall from using the Doomhammer during Legion because he dishonored the sanctity of a Mak'gora. It was supposed to be a clash between warriors but the new Horde ideologies did not mesh with the old.

The elements themselves don't give much of a hoot about the rules of the Mak'gora. Thrall's inability to wield the elements is all in his mind. I still don't think he cheated but he definitely feels like he did wrong with it comes to Garrosh.
