The Legion trailer (where she rescues Varian) and the Broken Shore scenario made the Sylvanas they actually gave us feel like such a bait & switch. I was crushed by Vol'jin's death, but looking forward to Sylvie stepping up and instead we got...what we got. /cry

Call me crazy, but it seems like an easier method to evade death would be "not make everyone want to kill her" rather than making questionable deals with newly-revealed super beings. AFAIK Sylvanas isn't decaying/dying of "old age"; her main threat to life is making enemies.
Sylvanas was already pretty disliked by the Alliance even prior to Legion and it stems to reason that she would eventually be hunted down by them. The Horde basically tolerated her but also were aware that she was sneaky and cunning. It was really a matter of time. (1/2)

Sylvanas isn't really the type of person to sit and wait and let people remove her from power. She's very much the person who'd take the first hit when it comes to war and killing the other side. She also doesn't believe in peace at all by her statements in the Novellas. (2/2)
