This is looking to be an Unpopular Opinion: I think a Time Skip in WoW isn't a bad thing. I think that the story is in great need of a jump after everything that's happened every year for Azeroth. Cities, villages, forests, lands can be healed. Unions can be born. Etc.

I'm ready for the next generation of WoW. I love all the current characters but 30 years of lore feels as though it holds back the story. Every new thing brings about a ret-con. Especially as a story told over multiple types of media, I feel like a fresh start is needed.
I'll never really understand the argument of out with the old in with the new. We can still have both and that's what they've been doing since Legion. At least when it comes to characters.

I just feel like they have themselves in a corner and its tough to keep sludging through. I think about the Redwall series and how it tells stories across multiple generations but the core fantasy is still there. I just think a fresh slate could do a lot for the games writing.

I personally don't agree with saying goodbye to the old characters anytime soon. They can very easily have old and new side by side just as they've been doing.
