This is looking to be an Unpopular Opinion: I think a Time Skip in WoW isn't a bad thing. I think that the story is in great need of a jump after everything that's happened every year for Azeroth. Cities, villages, forests, lands can be healed. Unions can be born. Etc.

This might be a chance for Blizz to fix every city (like Silvermoon) and major questing areas to make them up to date with the story

I'd love to see the population centers expanded 3 or 4 times. Imagine a Goldshire or the Crossroads that actually felt like villages. Ironforge with new caverns. Orgrimmar with more ... spikes (and much bigger.) And tons of npcs. Waste of money probably, but it would be fun.

I could handle a year or two but I like the game the way it is. I love all the story characters and the current lore. If they did a big skip, I just feel like I wouldn’t care anymore because I lost what I had always connected with.

Timeskip would only be a good thing to have done if the blizz team had more then 2-3 years of dev time or twice as long dev time then current expansions get put into them i think

They usually have about 2-3 years to work on an expansion's story technically. During Mists of Pandaria they were working on both Warlords of Draenor and Legion. I could be misunderstanding what you're saying though.
