I’ve always thought since the legion class update, beast mastery should have been the mele spec. It just makes sense that the spec that doesn’t use long range would have more animals to compensate.
It makes sense too as typically the spec that cares the most about their pets they wouldn't let them go it alone and hide behind them shooting arrows or bullets.

Conversely survival should be about staying out of range, using traps and being the rugged outdoorsman. Like LOTRs Strider or that bit in first blood where Rambo takes out all the cops.
