I've rewatched the Cinematic of where Sylvanas arrives to take on Bolvar. And say what you will but Bolvar was very much the underdog the entire fight there wasn't really a moment where he was defeating her. But the cinematic I think was trying to paint her as the hero? (1)
It's just frustrating because it's clear to me that Bolvar isn't a bad guy. Sure he had his moments in both Legion and Bfa where he's not fully Bolvar anymore but he warned people constantly before engaging. Bolvar is a true hero of Azeroth and deserves mad respect. (2)
Bolvar has fought the malevolent forces inside the helm, and also fought to control the Scourge. He has been fighting his ass off, building a better force under him. Anyone who thinks he's at full capacity after all those struggles is a fool. She picked that fight very careful.
She also had the Jailer backing her but yeah. I'm interested to see what they do with post Lich King Bolvar. I do think they're going to give him a very major role in Shadowlands and hope he'll be the one to take down Sylvanas.
Bolvar is my favourite character, he has been ever since I first walked into Stormwind's throneroom and watched him solo a bunch of Dragons. He deserves so much better. And Sylvanas is no hero.
Sylvanas is definitely no hero. She's not been since Teldrassil went up in smokes. Start of Legion I was starting to like her but it became clear it wasn't real. Bolvar, on the other hand, has proven himself. I'm excited we'll get to see him again a lot in Shadowlands.
They were definitely not trying to paint Sylvanas as a hero in that Cinematic. Unfortunately they weren’t trying to paint Bolvar as a hero either.
Sylvie's not the hero, she's the protagonist. The problem is that Lich King Bolvar has been an enigma. Sylvie's been enigmatic too but we're more familiar with her since she was active in BfA. We last saw Bolvar in Legion and even DK's didn't quite know what to make of him.
I agree that he's not getting the credit he should. Not only that, but it took an army to take on Arthas, yet she solos against Bolvar as the new Lich King and beats him. Like...

The thing is, that doing evil stuff doesn't mean you are evil. What I mean by that is, that he maybe did evil stuff (Like locking souls in or something) without he knowing it. That way he isn't evil, but his action is.
Yeah, the worst part is watching him actually try with his weird force powers to throw pillars at her and she literally just pivots to dodge it- Not to mention the way they portrayed icc was very sad, empty, no liches, no huge baddies to pose any threat, just uh ghouls 1-30
Well ICC has been that way since Legion. I wouldn't want them to show it being occupied as it had been in Wrath. That being said it is sad and I'm hoping this'll encourage Bolvar to fill it up more if he still has powers over the dead after this.
