They were literally just squatting on their own land. I have no idea how you can try and pretend that the horde werent the aggressors here lol. Sylvanas nor Garrosh invaded their lands because of some ancestral fight over land rights.

Sylvanas mainly has this mindset of, "There can never be a lasting peace with our enemies." A lot of the Horde leaders were ready to take a break (even Saurfang) after winning against the Legion but she framed it in a way where old hatreds would start up again.

What Sylvanas SHOULD HAVE DONE (as Warchief) was keep the peace. But because she is so set in her ways of death and feeding the Jailer of course she wanted more war. Sylvanas was not a good Warchief.

The entire original question is framed as if sylvanas had no choice but to do what she did in some regard. She didn’t, she could’ve done literally nothing. She is the one at fault, she decided to kill as many people as possible b/c she aligned to herself with the jailer.

OK so I guess genocide is just fine because of some nebulous idea that war is in evitable? Despite all evidence to the contrary because the night elves have more than proven that they’re willing to cease aggression. More than almost any race in the alliance

Are you guys just unaware that Mists of pandaria ended with a cessation of hostilities in night elf lands until sylvanas started again in bfa?

I remember it vaguely. Mists of Pandaria was so long ago and while I enjoyed parts of BfA I really wish they had just concluded the Faction War with MoP. They handled it much better there.
