Varok Saurfang went from being a meme'd World of Warcraft NPC to a fantastic and well-thought-out lore character. I still miss him.
Well, I'm more referring to where his popularity began. In World of Warcraft Classic he was that NPC people mind-controlled into cleaving and that's where it all started. From there Blizzard fell in love with the idea of using the character more for the story.

Yup. Varok Saurfang started out as an out meme and then went on to become a legitimate lore character in Warcraft. All because us fans made Chuck Norris jokes about the dude. Really goes to show you how we affect the game at times.
