Sometimes I get to thinkin' about how Blizz made a whole story about my favorite race in their game getting burned alive and mutilated for two years all so they could tell a story about my how my favorite race would like to join the faction I don't play. I think about it.

Oh yeah I know Val and I both have looots of reservations over the color coding that's been going on lately. Moving from political nuance to "You're purple?! I'm yellow! We must fight to the death!" is a scary direction.

That's sort of another of those component pieces for me. I'd really like to let players pick their allegiances and let Blizz free up who they can put where in their stories without worrying about gameplay constraints like faction alignment.

That concept scares me a lot, I had the same feelings about covenants at first but the deeper dive was pretty reassuring in explaining they aren't about appearances. They're very RPG character based. Necrolords =/= death knights and necromancers for example.
-
I think it was smart of them to directly subvert that by showing a Lightforged Draenei (presumably a paladin) join the Necrolords with a bunch of skeletons and abominations in the background.
