Between people in the US normally treating customer service employees like shit, its also the fact that the fearmongering over the corona virus is so absurdly ridiculous right now that it has turned people into true psychopaths.

That's not okay. At most I'll be awkward and silent with employees but rude? Hell no. My parents taught me better than that.
